Sunset at Ground Zero Porcelain Plate

This fine white porcelain plate features the Iconic “Sunset at Ground Zero.” It was the first Sunday after the 9/11 attacks and the sun was setting as Official Ground Zero Photographer Gary Marlon Suson walked up to the “pile.” As the sun began to set, it illuminated the remaining WTC steel facade while the American flag blew in the wind. Moments later, the wind shifted and covered the whole area with smoke, but not before this striking image was taken. Featured on CNN, Fox News and the BBC. From a collection of images called “Rare Photos” by the New York Times.
